One on One
Spiritual Direction
A space to exhale. To notice where God is already at work in your life.
Spiritual direction is one of the oldest forms of accompaniment across faith traditions. It has been practiced in monasteries, in living rooms, beneath trees. One person journeying with another who is learning to notice God's movements in the ordinary moments of their life.
It is not therapy. Not advice. Contrary to the name, a spiritual director does not direct the person. There is no teaching, no judgment, no prescribed path. What a director offers is a space for honest reflection, deep listening, and discernment.
The work belongs to you. The Spirit does the directing. The director is a companion along the way.
What happens in a session
We begin with breath. The Hebrew word ruach, the word for breath, is also the word for spirit. A few slow rounds. An arrival. From there, the session unfolds as a three-part conversation: between you, your director, and the Spirit.
Together we notice the interior and exterior movements of your life. What is heavy, what keeps surfacing, what you have not yet had words for. A session might include lectio divina, the slow reading of a short passage, a prayer, or a poem. Questions to go deeper.
Who is this for
It is for you — wherever you find yourself today.
It is for the person who has never missed a Sunday and the person who has not been back in years. For the one who longs for quiet and the one who is afraid of what the quiet might hold.
You do not need a settled belief to come here. You need only the longing that brought you this far.
Sessions are available virtually or in person. Zoom and phone sessions can be just as powerful as sitting in the same room. If you are in the Jacksonville area, I would love to meet face-to-face.
Cost should never be a barrier to seeking spiritual direction. If the rate is not workable for you right now, reach out. I am glad to find something that works for your budget.
If you are still finding your footing, a free 20-minute call is available. A chance to ask questions and sense whether this is the right fit.
